This Labor Day we went to Gills Rock in Door County on Lake Michigan for a couple of nights. Planning the trip after Labor Day was definitely a good idea - it was very quiet and peaceful - not at all crowded. We spent our time doing all the normal holiday activities: eating, drinking wine, taking photos, sight-seeing, cycling and shopping. Our suspicion is that Door County, like most places that attract a lot of tourists, is far more stunning during the off-season - when the autumn leaves are changing or fresh after a winter snowfall. Of course, how we’d get anywhere after a heavy lake-effect snowfall, I’m not entirely sure...it would be nothing like living in Madison.
